Do we really need "it"

I’m the marketing game world’s worst nightmare….. I have no clue when it comes to Xbox’s and Sony Playstations and whatever else is coming out this Xmas season.  In fact while watching someone play a “WWII” game on Xbox, I was wondering if they had a version that allowed you not to kill anyone, but just tour the countryside in a virtual historical setting.  I’m not convinced that ‘play-ing’ killing people is something that should be in a game… but that’s just me.

But I do know one thing… we’ve gone to far when the need for “it”… whether it’s a Playstation or whatever… causes us to turn to violence… we need to stop and ask ourselves if we are placing too need for technology that it means more to us than the people that make the technology.

‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free,

‘Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,

And when we find ourselves in the place just right,

‘Twill be in the valley of love and delight……

Yeah, technology needs to be a solution and solve problems, but it should never rise to the level that the need of “it” that we do this….

Do you think that because I choose to blow my fellow player’s head off in a game I would even consider doing it in real life?

    Hang on…

    Don’t answer that.
