I have just tried to install SP2 on SBS 2003 R2 and received the following
error at the end of the installation:
Service Pack 2 Setup Error
An error in updating your system has occurred.
Select ‘OK’ to undo the changes that have been made.
And the answer from the newsgroup came….
From the research on the error you provided, this problem might be caused
if WMI Repository is corrupted. At this point, please rebuild WMI
Repository and re-test the issue. To do so, please follow the steps below:
net stop winmgmt
rd /S /Q repository
regsvr32 /s %systemroot%\system32\scecli.dll
regsvr32 /s %systemroot%\system32\userenv.dll
for /f %%s in (‘dir /b /s *.dll’) do regsvr32 /s %%s
for /f %%s in (‘dir /b *.mof’) do mofcomp %%s
for /f %%s in (‘dir /b *.mfl’) do mofcomp %%s
Please understand that the current information is not enough for us to
troubleshoot, and if problem persists after you rebuild WMI repository…..
Bottom line….Call Microsoft support.. if you are a partner you have resources
