Houscleaning of OSTs

It all started with checking out size of Outlook ost files and I noticed a workstation that was being a bit tempermental seemed to have a larger OST than it should have.

One of the ways to fix this is to have the mailbox rebuild the cache file.


Go into the mail client and flip it ‘off of cached mode. Launch Outlook so it’s no longer in cached mode. Close Outlook.  Find the location of the OST file .. which is typically something like … C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Now rename the Outlook OST to something else.  Relaunch Outlook, flip it back on inside of accounts to be on cached mode, close and reopen.  See if the size changes.
