The install of 4.5.1 on SBS 2011 is making some of these boxes now run out of resources.

I opened a case for a consultant, I’m seeing more and more posts in the forums about this issue.

Issue:  .net 4.5.1 is offered up to SBS 2011
.net 4.5.1 is installed
Causes more resources on the box
If box is ‘marginal’ in resources it will tip it over and start causing issues
Symptoms now being seen:  RWA will stop working or have issues connecting to the workstations

Resolution:
Throw more RAM at the ox
Or throttle down Exchange memory use manually

Post: SBS 2011 Reports Are No Longer Being Sent

Description:

SBS2011 server, the daily network reports are no longer being emailed

Cause :

There are more than one NIC on the server and the monitoring service cannot contact the host server (due to the second IP address) to send out email.

Resolution:

Remove the second NIC and verify the IP settings on the server.

Always remember to psconfig it

After patching your companyweb in SharePoint 2010/SBS 2011 may look like that.  Don’t panic just psconfig it.

IE9 and SBS’s faxing

Windows Fax and Scan: An error occured in the script on this page:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2629557/en-us?sd=rss&spid=14134

When attempting to print to a Windows Fax Server from a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer that has Internet Explorer 9 installed, a script error similar to the following occurs:

An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Line: 2107
Char: 1
Error: Invalid procedure call or argument
Code: 0
URL: res://ieframe.dll/preview.js

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Selecting Yes to continue running scripts on this page does not allow the print to the fax printer to proceed. Additionally the Windows Fax and Scan process (WFS.EXE) may stop responding, requiring the user to use Task Manager to kill the wfs.exe process.

Microsoft is currently investigating this problem. The issue occurs when Internet Explorer 9 is installed on Windows 7 (Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate) or Windows Vista SP2 (Business, Enterprise, Ultimate), and the user attempts to send a fax using Windows Fax and Scan via a Windows Fax Server.
To workaround this problem, when using Windows Fax and Scan for sending a fax, only add text to the following fields:

But I don’t want companyweb as my default IE home page!

http://msmvps.com/blogs/bradley/archive/2009/05/29/group-policy-defaults-for-sbs-2008.aspx

One of the things people want to do is to change their home page in IE.  (As an aside it’s my personal pet peeve about IE.  If people are using IE it’s because they LIKE to not have change or have a line of business app that requires it.  So in IE9 where they hide the favorites and hide the tabs, the people that are STILL using IE and actually LIKE it don’t want to download IE9 as it’s a change from what they have…but I digress…)

So back to our SBS 2008/2011.  You join a computer to the domain and bamn, it changes the home page in IE to companyweb.  And you want something different right?

Go into the group policy management console and go to the Windows SBS User policy.  Drill down to the level shown and change the Home page to what you want.
