Bad Code? or just the AFL curse hitting hard?

April 15th 2007 in 2552, 3022

A former colleague alerted me to the fact that the www.afl.com.au website was down – caused by an unhandled exception – that’s just poor poor coding in my opinion.

Reason seems to be that the datasource isn’t available – so who on earth doesn’t check to see if the connection is open before requesting data…

and have they heard about try-catch yet? seriously, for such a public web site that’s BAD…seriously bad!!

What’s worse is they haven’y used a pretty error screen – an end user should NEVER see that screen, even if the developer did miss an exception.
