Overview
Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2007 resolves issues that were found in Exchange Server 2007 since the software was released. This update rollup is highly recommended for all Exchange Server 2007 customers.

BTW, I mentioned in a previous post that the spreadsheet didn’t convert well to Excel 2003. Well, apparently they fixed it, but you’ll lose some functionalities, due to Office 2003 limitations.

The long-awaited Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007 is finally here!

Brief Description
This management pack includes scripts and rules to effectively monitor Exchange 2007 and report on performance, availability, and reliability of its server roles.

Overview
The Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 management pack is designed to be used for monitoring Exchange 2007 events, collecting Exchange component-specific performance counters in one central location, and for raising alerts for operator intervention as necessary. By detecting, sending alerts, and automatically responding to critical events, this management pack helps indicate, correct, and prevent possible service outages or configuration problems, allowing you to proactively manage Exchange servers and identify issues before they become critical. The management pack monitors and provides alerts for automatic notification of events indicating service outages, performance degradation, health monitoring, and centralized management.
This MP requires the
Backward Compatibility Version 6.0.5000.16 (or above).

Exchange Server 2007 SP1 Overview

Microsoft released a new PowerPoint presentation that explains the value of Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1.

SP1 is expected to be released in the last quarter of 2007, but it will be officially announced on October 16th, along with the other Wave 2 unified communication products.

.NET Framework 2.0 Update for Exchange 2007

Microsoft released a .NET Framework 2.0 CLR update that should be applied to every Exchange 2007 server.  It is more urgent to install this update on Client Access servers with multiple protocols, but Microsoft recommends installing the update on all Exchange 2007 servers.

This fix will be included in .NET Framework 2.0 SP1, which doesn’t have an ETA for its release.

Update for Outlook Junk E-mail Filter (October 2007)

Microsoft has just released the October update for the Outlook 2003/2007 Junk E-mail Filter.

This update provides the Junk E-mail Filter in Microsoft Office Outlook with a more current definition of which e-mail messages should be considered junk e-mail.

The update is available for Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003 or you can use Microsoft Update. As usual the update comes with the corresponding Knowledge Base article:
