Vacation Time

Well, it is that time of the year. We are leaving tomorrow morning for the mountains of North Carolina. I’m really looking forward to the time with family and to relaxing in the cooler mountain air. I grew up going to to the mountains every summer and now I feel like I have to have my yearly fix of mountain scenery and air or things just don’t feel right.

On Saturday my youngest son and I are attending the 32nd Annual Western Carolina Hamfest. My son really enjoys looking at the radios and shopping the vendor tables. While there I’m going to test for my General license. I’ve been studying and I think I’m ready. I’m really excited and blessed to share this interest with him.

Once I get back I’ll be home for the weekend then I will  off to Columbia SC for a week to teach a class on OCS 2007 Speech Server. I’m looking forward to that as I love talking about OCS stuff. I don’t have all the answers but I do enjoy talking about this stuff.

This has been a busy month with work and getting ready for vacation and the teaching assignment so I haven’t been blogging. This month has the fewest blog entries from me since I started GotSpeech. I hope you will forgive me.

When I get back from the training I should have a new development environment ready to setup. I’m putting in a new server (an HP ProLiant ML110 G4 Dual-Core with 4 GB of memory) and an AudioCodes MP-114/2FXS/2FXO.  I’m really anxious to get my hands on the AudioCodes gateway. As I setup the dev environment I’ll be blogging every step of the way.

Keep using the forums (they will go on without me) and I’ll see you when I get back.

MVP again!

I received this email this morning:

The award is an annual award and my last award cycle was up on June 30th. It has been a great year and I’m looking forward to  what the next year has to offer. It should be really exciting as the things I’ve been involved with for the last 2 years are finally coming to market. I really believe that OCS 2007 Speech Server is going to change the way we build and deploy speech applications. It is a joy to use and I am blessed in that I love working with it each day.
