FrontPage and the dreaded FPSE’s – You can finally leave them behind..

Microsoft’s FrontPage in it’s various guises has been a godsend for many people. It has enabled wannabe website owners to create something reasonably meaningful without having to learn the conventions of HTML, PNP or any of the other obscure conventions required to produce a website.

Microsoft hoped that the conventions set by FrontPage would become the standard, but the rest of the web community did not agree. As a result, FrontPage was pensioned of after the 2003 edition. There has been no replacement.

Expression Web was released, and is currently at version 4, but it is no ‘beginner’ software, and is most definitely NOT an FP 2003 substitute. Expression is great for those who want to learn how to do it properly, or who already can. For people like me, it may as well be written in hieroglyphics. I just can’t get my head around it at all.

The options are not too plentiful, and I have been trying a variety of solutions all promising ease of use. Well, I think that I may have found one..

Now I know what some of you are going to say next. Yes, it does produce something of an old fashioned look and feel, BUT for somebody who has ZERO talent regarding website design and construction, would you really care? The project on which I am working in the trial version (I can’t afford to buy it just yet even though the price is below $40) looks a lot better than what I was doing in FrontPage. The template is a free one called ‘Contemporary’, is simple, clean, and when all is said and done, it is the content and content layout which is going to sell, not the header or hyperlink button design. Bear in mind that this is a free one, and that you can construct your own or buy a professionally constructed template..

Probably best for you to take a look at the website for yourselves..

Have fun.. Smile
