8.1 update problems?

There are a few and one of them is this.. the Pre-update KB2919442.

If you can’t see it in the update history, and you are running Windows 8, don’t wait around anymore. You will NOT get it until you have first upgraded to 8.1 via the Windows Store.

If you can’t see it in the update history and you ARE running 8.1, download the appropriate bit version from the links below and install manually..

32-bit.. =  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42135

You have a better chance of success if you have updates set to automatic, and that your computer is malware and ‘go faster utility’ free. I include CCleaner in this category too. Microsoft can’t be expected to release updates which will install on an OS that is being maintained in a sick and sorry state. That is YOUR responsibility to sort out.

So, get to it with Disk Cleanup, Malwarebytes and your preferred anti-virus solution. The update makes working with the tiles way better, Microsoft will bar you from updates in the future if you do NOT install it, and lastly, it will give you something to do.

For those of you who are going back to Windows 8 because you don’t like 8.1, I am obliged to tell you that it is the WRONG direction, and you should re-consider at your earliest convenience..
