Hi All,


 


I need web part for SharePoint Server 2003 wih the following


functionality:


employee enter on some portal page with this web part, create task and assign it to specified contact from Exchange Address Book then person should press Send buttom and contact assigned will recieve this task.


Is there something like that?

You can sort of do this with the issues list. You would need to add the contact as a member of the site (from the exchange address book will be fine) and then you can assign a task to that user. The user will be emailed when the task is assigned.

In addition to Steven’s suggestion, Coras Works sells a webparts that can make most of SharePoint’s standard lists and document libraries e-mail enableled like the Issues list.  It also adds Some addition functionality, such as the ability to add a second email recipient.

O, thank you for your qick reply. I did think about Coras, but now I’ll try to do that by the methods of Portal Server itself.

An Issue is as good as a Task to a blind horse. ;-)


 


Thanks for this info.  I had the same question about task assignments and email notification, but didn’t get a reply.  We can use Issues instead and get on with it.  I wonder why they implemented that in the Issues web part, but not the Tasks web part?
