IS it possible to somehow control who has access to which web parts. I realise that it is possible to put code inside custom web parts that can check whether to display information or not but what I like to do is have an approach that covers custom and OUTB web parts.

Thanks

Andrew

Andrew,

Most of the out of box web parts for SPS allow you to use Audiences to choose who and what to display.  This is perhaps the easiest way to accomplish what you are looking for.

Hi Andrew,

I agree with Mike. At SPS guide, this article “Show Targeted Items to Portal Site Users” will introduce the detailed steps for you on how to limit the web part access to specific audience. This is one feature in SPS.

In WSS site, we can’t specify users for viewing one web part.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any question.
