Here is the scenario:

I have 2 separate portal implementations portal A and portal B (not using shared services, totally separate).  There is a document library on portal B that portal A should crawl.

If I create a content source on portal A that points to the document library on portal B, how can I ensure that only the document library is crawled?  I’ve tried several different things with path inclusions/exclusions, page hops, etc, and nothing seems to work.  I either crawl too little or the entire portal is crawled.  Has anyone attempted this?

Thanks…

You can path a unc name to the document library and crawl the document library as a fileshare.

Thanks – I also had to enable the WebClient on the SharePoint server.

I was unable to use the UNC path without this service enabled….

Thanks!
