I am trying to move the content indexes and property store files to a different folder.  I have tried using the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;830316  and http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825484 .  I am able to stop the SharePointPSSearch and then I run catutil PROPSTORE siteid(id of the site) -m “c:\sharepoint\sps.edb”.  It appears to be running and doesn’t give any errors although it never really copies or moves any files.  It also looks like catutil starts the SharePointPSSearch.  I am running catutil from the bin directory.

When I try to move the content index, I get the following error:  “The procedure entry point FlushLog could not be located in the dynamic link library dfastlog.DLL.”  This error occurs with catutil.exe version 11.0.5704.0.  I don’t get the error with catutil.exe version 11.0.4920.22.  I don’t get any errors with that version, but it doesn’t move or copy any files.

Our production server is out of room on the C:\ drive so I really need to get the indexes and property store files moved.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tascha

Hi Tascha,

First, make sure you are using the catutil.exe file that is in the <sharepoint portal server path>\bin file.

Second, try shutting down the mssearch service on the SQL server holding the databases, in addition to shutting down the sharepointpssearch service.  I had similar problems to those listed below – this allowed the command to execute properly.
