Iransim 10th Anniversary

On 30th of December 2012 Iransim celebrates its ten years of service to Iran flight and space simulator community. Iransim started its service as a text-only, dial-up based network, among very few college friends mainly to support add-ons developed by its creator back in 2000. By dawn of Internet and personal computers in Iran it gradually evolved into a reference and support web site for PC based flight simulation software, Iranian virtual airlines, online flight-simulation networks etc, among fellow Iranian flight simmers. Today, based on a shared passion for aviation and for the 10th year, we continue to provide services to all flight simulation enthusiasts all around the world.

Our Emails,Their dreams…

Recently I have noticed something really interesting. I have started to get emails from a website claiming that it is a community for VB programmers. The emails had some technical topics regarding to Visual Basic programming. At first it looked genuine to me but after some time things have changed and I started to receive several emails a day with very funny topics like “How can I set timer’s label text?” or “how should I open Visual Basic?’  So they started to show up! Aren’t they?
They even had a website dedicated to their fake community. I really don’t know if our email addresses are that valuable to them (spammers) but if it is then I have thousand of them ready for them. So be advised of such fake programming lovers and never reply to such emails or never even visit the links enclosed in your email as those links have different destination than what they show and will confirm that your email is real.

No more Tehran Scenery for now!

Here I have a bad news for you.The long awaited project I was working on since 2007, has been officially canceled due to several reasons .The project turned into a super project and I personally was not able to handle it, mostly due to lack of enough spare time.Maybe sometime in the future I will reignite it again but until then I will keep it in my archive.

Iransim Forum is now active

It took a long time to finish this. It was part my program to add a Persian forum to the site so that users can easily share their ideas, problems… with other users and it proved to be effective. Although the forum is not just for flight simulation but for all branches of aviation in Iran but the users response and interaction was not up to my expectation. Maybe I have done something wrong, either in design or user experience. But anyway let just give it sometime and see what happen in the future. You can check the forum here. I would be happy to have your comments and suggestions.

Some mission accomplished!

I have been very busy recently scratching my head and working on several projects at the same time, including my long awaited Tehran Scenery 2007 (which is now called third edition) and also trying to activate Iranian division of Ivao which I have had plan for since 2006 and which we finally made it after almost two months of negotiations with Ivao. Thanks to the patience and help of my friend Alain Debrower (Ivao Ex-President) and my good friend Khashayar (IR-DIR) for taking responsibility as division director. You can visit Iran division here: http://ivao.iransim.ir.(No longer active!)

Designing a CMS (ASP.NET Based) to suit our needs in the division’s website was on the other side. I was also working on our new Persian forum for Iransim (Based on a very nice ASP.NET/C# forum called YetAnotherForum) and the CMS related to our new website which is almost ready for public release but I am still a little bit concerned about the codes, so it may take some more weeks to have enough confidence about it and to transfer our existing site to the new server and upload related contents.

On the other hand I found some time to write a freeware GUI called “Simplex Defragmenter” in VB.NET for a good and free defragmenter called Jkdefrag .It is available here! Give it a try. Not that bad!
I also found a nice and easy way to do photo realistic sceneries using Google earth and its integration into FSX which I am still working on. If successful I am going to use it in my sceneries. Although the resolution of Google earth files is not good enough but with some Photoshoping or Gimping will look better and less blurry. Semi transparent grainy layers on the top will also help. I also had a problem regarding floated runways at the end of them which I finally got into conclusion that the earth is now truly curved in FSX. Maybe we are finally getting close to see sloping runways in flight simulator!

And I wrote an article regarding Microsoft ESP (in Persian Here) and the fact that Flight simulator is now a serious thing (It was serious but it is now officially serious [:D]) and we should expect to see very familiar outside view in Multi Million dollars flight simulator maybe in a very near future and this is really better than those boring outside views in even Level D simulators. The last one I saw was an A380 Simulator from CAE and the outside view was in no way comparable to FSX. Just clouds and snow/rain effects were better in my idea which it must be with that amount of processing power.
Apart from all these things I managed to eat and drink and have had some time to sleep…I guess, and about 120 hours of virtual flight as Pilot/Controller.

Yours truly
Touradg Morassaei

I am still here! Why are you asking?

It has being long time since I haven’t post here. I have been very busy adopting to FSX new scenery design. I have also converted all fs9 files of Tehran scenery 2007 to be compatible with FSX.

I am also designing a new website on a new server which will be available to the public very soon. You can take a look here: Iransim

And something else, FSX now has a service pack which greatly improves its performance and use of multicore CPUs. FS team did a great job for that. It also fixes lots of bugs.

One more things, two Iranian are traveling around the world in their private bonanza. Take a look at their website here:Freedom Flight

FSX is not slow. Your uncle PC is old…

I have received several emails regarding FSX slow performance. Well FSX is a world in DVD. Don’t expect your 2-3 years old pc to be able to handle such a complex and tremendous simulator. I have read an article in Portuguese which was actually a review of FSX. They have reported that they get very good frames per second (which is also smooth) in a Core2Due extreme edition Intel CPU with Gforce 7600GT and 1GB RAM and that is amazing. So this shows you should buy a better CPU than GPU.

Here is the review (Link is dead)

Tehran Scenery 2007

I am currently working on the fifth version of my scenery for Fs2004/FsX called Tehran scenery 2007. I have finished almost all ground materials and ready to start gmaxing: [:D]
Things that I have focused on them in this version are, Iran's most important airport called IKIA and the complete scenery of Tehran the capital of Iran. the total number of objects will be something around 1300.that is already too much for busy systems running FSX.I have managed to reduces the number of polygons by using 2D objects and low resolution textures which rotates toward FS camera (user) this is what I have done for my last scenery (Kish Island 2004) and reduced the number of polygons I have used for runway and taxiway light.

FSX is out but …

Hello again. First of all things a big thank to all those brilliant people in FS team, because of them we can now fly! Thank you!
As you now FSX is ready to start its part of job in our PCs for next 2 or 3 years. In my idea FS team have done a great job bringing us the best and it is really beat the rest but there are still thing in my wish list after 3 versions of FS.I am sure that they are aware of that but maybe the are going to surprise us with DX10 patch. Any way don't you think that there should be no sunshine on runway when you fly in an overcast condition below clouds? Yes clouds should have shadow.
And don't you think that this is as important as elephants in Africa?
Maybe we should just wait for DX10.Ok…
