FSWeekend wrap-up

So this weekend was the annual FSWeekend in the Netherlands again. Just like the last couple of years I was present again at the NL2000 and FSDeveloper booth. It is always amazing to see in how many ways people can enjoy their flight simulation hobby. It ranges from flying in clubs to building cockpits at home, making addons and much more. And this weekend is not only about Microsoft Flight Simulator, Falcon 4, X-Plane and FlightGear were also well represented again. The best part of the event is probably talking to all the visitors. After so much online contact, it … Continue reading FSWeekend wrap-up

Happy birthday FSDeveloper!

Wow, time really goes fast. It still feels like yesterday, but actually it is 5 years ago already that we transformed the SceneryDesign.org community into the FSDeveloper community. So happy 5th birthday FSDeveloper!

FlightGear on FSDeveloper

Last week we opened forums to discuss X-Plane development on FSDeveloper. And this week we have added a new subforum again, this time to discuss development for the open source FlightGear simulator. So from now on you can also discuss development of scenery or aircraft for FlightGear on FSDeveloper, we hope you enjoy those new forums.

Changes to FSDeveloper forum structure

Today I will be making some changes to the forum structure. With time going on, how we make our addons has also changed slightly. For example when we started FSDeveloper more ASM tweaking was needed, but now that forum is not so active anymore. With these changes to the structure we want to make sure you can find what you are looking for quickly. Let me stress that we won’t remove anything, we might merge two categories or put a subforum in a different category. I will post all the details once I am finished with the changes. For now this is … Continue reading Changes to FSDeveloper forum structure

FSDeveloper & X-Plane?

There has been some discussion recently on the FSDeveloper forum about creating a place to discuss X-Plane related topics as well. We have now created a poll to see how much interest there is to discuss addon creation for different simulators. Let us know what you think. It is a long time ago that I looked at X-Plane myself, but I have been able to compare MSFS development with creating scenery for professional flight simulators (those that airliners use for their training). There are more similarities than you might expect at first. So I am sure that between FSX, X-Plane, … Continue reading FSDeveloper & X-Plane?

Microsoft Flight forum closed on FSDeveloper

We have decided to close the Microsoft Flight forum we had on FSDeveloper. The reason for this is that we are a developer oriented forum and at the moment there is not much to discuss about development for Microsoft Flight. Therefore most discussing going on in that forum was gossiping, rumours and guessing. This often turned into heated discussions, not in the friendly tone we like to have in the FSDeveloper community. Therefore we have closed the forum now. If you want to gossip about Microsoft Flight there are enough other places on the internet to do so. When there … Continue reading Microsoft Flight forum closed on FSDeveloper

FSDeveloper emails

It seems that we have a few issues at the FSDeveloper website with sending emails. We are investigating these issues now. So if you tried to register a new account and don’t get an email confirmation this can be the cause. If you have trouble with this, please contact us and we’ll try to help you.

FSDeveloper server performance

Over the last weeks there have been some issues with the performance of the FSDeveloper server. Now and then (but quite regularly), the performance of the server is bad. This means that pages load very slow or not at all. We are sorry for this inconvenience and we are looking into this issue. The problem is that every time our hosting company looks at the issue, everything is running fine. So that makes it hard to pin it down. We hope to solve the problem soon though.
