The /3GB that won’t die

Just to let you folks know that the EHLO blog has a post about the /3 switch and the …uh… well…they don’t specifically talk about SBS.

Remember my post from before?  I still don’t think we need it but I’ve asked for official blog clarification [and the Exchange folks are very cool and very SBS responsive so watch this post for updates]

So Greg?  Watch this post and the EHLO blog for updates.

P.S.  While as Scott points out in KB823440 it says ‘you don’t have to use it on SBS’ I liked it ‘unofficially’ blogged about on the EHLO blog too.  I wouldn’t get so many questions about it if there still wasn’t a bit of confusion out there.

  1. I just read this in KB823440:

"You do not have to use the /3GB switch on Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003-based computers. We do not recommend that you use the /3GB switch parameter in the Boot.ini file for Exchange Server computers that are also Active Directory domain controllers or global catalog servers."
