SBShow on Managed services

Is managed services a fad?  Or just something that we should be doing as good networking folks?

I’d argue it’s just good business.

  1. SoCal Techie says:

Managed Services is here to stay, but it didn’t come to replace an existing service. It fills a void in that is left by break/fit and full-fledged IT departments.

The key for VARs and OEMs transitioning to Managed Services is to find a way to add the new services to their existing portfolio of services. There are several things to consider, such as infrastructure requirements, labor and expertise requirements and the ability of your sales/marketing teams to convey the managed services concept to your existing clients.

IMHO, try to spend as little as you can at first to develop your MSP practice. Use something like SMC’s Kaseya Managed Services Software which doesn’t require any contracts, volume commitments or up-front money.
