Release 7 (R7) as Auto Update

Tomorrow, Thursday, June 22, we expect to make Release 7 available to you and your clients who are working in editions of QuickBooks® 2006 for Windows as an Auto Update. Earlier we told you about R7 when it first became available as a manual download.

Note: That earlier release referenced a potential error. From real-world experience with the manual download we have found very few instances, but still wanted to remind you in case you or a client encounters the error.

Note on Limited Potential Error

You should be aware that in a limited number of cases, installing the R7 update could result in an error message:

Unable to Apply Patch

This error message appeared sometimes in conjunction with Error code 1612 or 1603. In the unlikely event that you encounter this error, please use these instructions to resolve:

This is the Knowledge Base article that includes the instructions to resolve the problem.

Updated URL for Time Tracker Trial

One of the features of R7 is enabling the use of the new QuickBooks Time Tracker service. Time Tracker is a Web-based service that saves you and clients valuable time by enabling you to download timesheets directly into QuickBooks.

Offer to All QuickBooks Users: Try Time Tracker free for 60 days to see how easy it is to save time each month. Learn more about Time Tracker or start your trial here:

In the previous Alert, we supplied you with a URL that took you to preliminary posting of the page, with links that would not allow you to access full information on receiving the 60-day trial. While we created a redirect to that old URL to fix the problem, we wanted to make sure you had the above link, which takes you to the correct location.

Note: In the archived version of the previous Alert, to be posted shortly, we will include the corrected URL. We apologize for any inconvenience.
