Spiceworks should focus on accuracy of inventory well before holding conferences. The product has broken so much I can no longer trust it.

As I am sure you know, there are a huge number of network configurations, security configurations, etc… all of which impact the ability to properly inventory a network accurately. We continually improve our network scanning techniques on every release.

Most (post 3.1) issues with inventory are typically due to security/AV software, network configuration, or sometimes real bugs in the software. Most of the biggies were fixed in 3.1 and Spiceworks has fixed a number of others in the latest 3.2 release (as of 11/7). If you need help working through any outstanding issues with the accuracy of your inventory, feel free to contact support and add to the request that you are in contact with “GregK” and I will be able to get involved directly. If you don’t have the time or desire, I understand completely.

I agree, I enable the necessary remote settings in Vista for other management tools that I need and that’s normally what Spiceworks needs. It’s no different than any other management tool that I’ve seen or used.
