Not realize that the installer is asking if you want to REMOVE the Broadcom nic driver.  Now in my case remotely is relative as I was still at the office and it meant I had to walk over to the desktop and reinstall the driver as I just nuked the nic, but still.  The more remote you are, the more you want to pay attention to installer windows and what they are asking to do.
