I was asked what tool that I used to wipe harddrives to ensure that they don’t have sensitive data and I said that I used a hammer. The price tag of hard drives is so cheap that it’s not worth the risk of donating computers. It’s cheaper from a risk perspectfive to destroy the hard drive and to replace it with a new disk.

I store all my old hardrives and then on the last working day before Christmas I drill a hole through each of them.
