Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 update history:

Updated the inbox component in Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials to use
the new client connector, so that the inbox component won’t get
uninstalled during Windows 10 upgrades.

July 2016 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2:

Hi Susan, do you think this means we will need to re-install all client connectors after this optional server side fix is applied. It is not documented in any way, but my thinking is yes.

I am also not sure how this will work with the SkipDomainJoin registry trick as that usually gets wiped as well every time there is an upgrade.

Given the Anniversary Update is due out next week, I suppose we will all soon know.
