1709 and Essentials

On October 19, 2017, in news, by susan

Getting multiple reports that after the install of 1709 the client connector from the Essentials 2012 R2 is gone and can’t be reinstalled.

Hang loose, seeing about getting cases opened up to investigate.

I’m not sure if it’s necessary to reinstall the connector. It’s true that 1709 kills the configuration.

But if the connector is already installed, you can reconnect it by start:
    “C:\Program Files\Windows Server\Bin\ClientDeploy.exe”

After this the client is visible in the dashboard and also the backup seems to work.

    Hope this helps as workaround.

Hi Susan, any further news on this? Finger is hovering over the “deploy” button for 1709 but have resisted actually pressing it so far because of these reports.

Any fix or workaround available for this yet?

Any news on this issue? There is some advice to remove the connector before the 1709 upgrade, but now I cannot install the connector to the 2012 R2 server. The install sees the server and the DNS points to the server, but the installer then reports that it can’t see the server.
