How to Enable Material Design UI Layout for Top of Google Chrome in Windows

Starting with Google Chrome 68, you can set a flag for an experimental feature to allow selection of a “UI layout for the brower’s top chrome” that changes the look of the tabs and address bar.

You can toggle between the following UI layouts for the top of Google Chrome:

  • Default
  • Normal – for clamshell devices
  • Hybrid (previously touch) – middle point for devices with a touch screen
  • Auto – Let Chrome decide.
  • Touchable – new unified interface for touch and convertibles (Chrome OS)
  • Refresh – Material Design refresh
  • Touchable Refresh – Touchable Material Design refresh

This tutorial will show you how to enable and change the Material Design UI layout for the top (tabs and address bar) of Google Chrome to what you want for your account in Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.
