How to Enable or Disable Tab Freezing in Google Chrome

Starting with Google Chrome 79, a new Tab Freeze feature has been added that will automatically pause (freeze) tabs when they have been inactive in the background for 5 minutes by default until you return to the tab.

When Google Chrome freezes a tab, the web page open in the tab will no longer be active to stop its CPU usage and any actions the web page may be performing in the background until you return to the tab.

Tab freezing can help to free up CPU and RAM (memory) resources and save battery life.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable the Tab Freeze feature in Google Chrome for your account in Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.
