Windows Vista Build 5472

Microsoft today released build 5472 to beta testers, it is unclear however at this moment if build 5472 will be made more widely available than its predecessor build 5456 which never made it onto the MSDN subscriber downloads website.

Also released today were associated builds of the Windows SDK which will contain pre-release versions of the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0, it is also unclear however if the builds of the .NET Framework have changed between these two interim Vista releases. I’ll try and establish an answer to this sometime tomorrow once I’ve completed downloading the near 10Gb required for the x86 and x64 distributions along with the SDK download.

Hopefully build 5472 will include updated device drivers for the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800, although we’ll see tomorrow.

Updated July 17, 11:15pm PST: According to Mary Jo Foley of Microsoft-Watch, MSDN subscribers can expect to have access to build 5472 within the next few days.

Updated July 18, 11:36am PST: Windows Vista Build 5472 installed onto my 32-bit based Dell Inspiron 9400 and the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 is now supported with Aero Glass 🙂

Here are two screen captures showing Aero Glass support working now for the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800, and a second capture showing the version information and system rating.
