Forefront & Antigen SP1 Documentation

After the release of SP1 for Exchange Server 2007, there were a couple of SP1 companion downloads also available for download.

Now the documentation for some of those products can also be downloaded:

  • Microsoft Antigen SP1 Documentation – The Messaging Security Suite includes Antigen for Exchange, Antigen for SMTP Gateways, and Antigen Spam Manager, and provides server-level protection against the latest e-mail threats.
  • Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server with SP1 Documentation – Forefront Security for Exchange Server SP1 integrates multiple scan engines from industry-leading security firms into a comprehensive, layered solution, helping protect your Microsoft Exchange Server messaging environments from viruses, worms, spam, and inappropriate content.
This new release provides support for Exchange Server 2007 SP1 and Windows Server 2008, as well as content filtering and manageability enhancements.

Regarding this latest link, I would like to call your attention to the cluster installation instructions. In the previous version, although you could install it on a cluster environment, it wasn’t really cluster aware, which could originate some annoying events in the Application Event Log.

There is a hotfix you can request from Microsoft, which is described in this KB article:

The hotfix is actually a full installation of Forefront, making it cluster-aware (you’ll notice a new cluster resource).

I haven’t tried Forefront SP1 yet, but hopefully it has superseded the hotfix, incorporating all its fixes.
