Whew! Senate Bill to Require Breaking Encryption looks Dead.

When it comes to breaking encryption on smart phones, I’m squarely in the middle. While I understand the need, I’m very leery of granting *ANY* government agency blanket authority. I’m happy with the current process that the government has to go through.
Anyway, looks like a proposed bill was floated in the U.S. Senate to allow judges to require vendors to break encryption. At this point it seems that it’s dead for this year.
