Microsoft has released it’s 1st version of the Chrome based version for Windows 10 (as well as Windows 7 & 8).  It is a much improved version from the more proprietary original version of Edge that is included with the WIN10 O/S 🙂

Microsoft on Wednesday announced the first release of its Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser at the “stable” commercial-release stage.  This new Edge browser (version 79) is based on the open source Chromium Project’s engine, largely fostered by Google, which is also central to Google’s Chrome browser. Microsoft kicked off this switch about a year ago and is now a Chromium Project code contributor. The older EdgeHTML-based Edge browser still exists (Microsoft now calls it “Microsoft Edge legacy“), but it’s going to get replaced at some point by the new Chromium-based version.
