VS 2005 Compiler

The new compiler in the VS 2005 distribution is version 14, just like the WDK compiler:

Microsoft (R) 32-bit C/C++ Optimizing Compiler Version 14.00.41204.17 for 80x86

The Visual Studio 2005 compiler is:

Microsoft (R) 32-bit C/C++ Optimizing Compiler Version 14.00.50727.42 for 80x86

It’s worth remembering that the recent operator new discussion applies to WDK-built software as well.

I’m always interested in seeing the [documented] command-line switches. Here’s the output from the latest cl.exe:
