2005-06-13 “House of the Rising Sun”

Hurrican season has officialy started, and we wasted no time in kicking things off with Hurricane Arlene. It headed straight for the gulf coast region of the U.S., waving hello to Florida as it passed by us. It got me to thinking and of the good friends and SBS support we have in that area – from Pensacola (Frank) to New Orleans (Jeff). Hope everyone is well!

Speaking of New Orleans, our song of the week was recorded several times by many different artists — the Animals, the Rolling Stones, even Bob Dylan did a version of it. So this is in recognition of all the work that Jeff Middleton has provided to this SBS community, over the years, and most recently with his Swing Migration (www.sbsmigration.com).

The House of the Rising Sun

aka The House of the Swingin’ King

There is a house in New Orleans

They call the Swingin’ King

And it’s been the start of many migrations

And God I know I’m one

My teacher was an MVP

He taught me all I need

He set up shop in a gamblin’ town

Down in New Orleans

Now the only thing this tech will need

Is his laptop and his scripts

And the only time that he is satisfied

Is when he’s home from a trip

—— organ solo ——

Oh mother tell your children
How we’ve done so many things
Spent our lives migrating every day

In the House of the Swingin’ King

Well, I got one foot on the server

The other foot on the floor

I’m goin’ back to New Orleans

To learn how to swing some more!

There is a house in New Orleans

They call the Swingin’ King

And it’s been the start of many migrations

And God I know I’m one
