Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server Power Tool – February 2007 – v1.2

Team Foundation Power Tool (TFPT), formerly known as Team Foundation Power Toys, provides supplemental functionality for use with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server.

Note: DSLTool for VS2005 will need to be installed first.

~ VSTS Process Editor is integrated inside Visual Studio for viewing and customizing Team Foundation process templates.

After installing Power Tool v1.2, the Process Editor menu item can be found inside the Visual Studio development environment after connecting to the Team Foundation Server, while the user guide “PEUserGuide.doc” of Process Editor can be found inside the Microsoft Team Foundation Power Tools program group. The user guide contains detailed instructions on how to use Process Editor.

[  >>  Visual Studio  >>  Team  >>  Process Editor  ]

[  >>  Start   >>   Program   >>   Microsoft Team Foundation Power Tools   >>   Microsoft Visual Studio Team System Process Editor   >>   PEUserGuide.doc  ]

~ TFPT installs these commands on the VSTS client computer: Unshelve, Rollback, Online, GetCS, UU, Annotate, Review, History, Workitem, Query, Treediff, Workspace, Treeclean. GUI is supported for some of the commands.

~ Custom check-in policies that comes with the TFPT application: custom path policy, forbidden patterns, changeset comments, work item query.

~ An MSBuild task is installed for customizing Team Foundation Build. The installed task “TestToolsTask” can be used to specify a test container as part of the build process (e.g., a DLL, a Web test, a load test), instead of using *.vsmdi files to specify tests to run.

~ Support for Windows Vista. (When you are uninstalling the old TFPT release on Vista, you will need to disable UAC, or use “msiexec /i tfpt.msi” in order to get rid of the error 1721.)
