nVidia drivers – removal

If you are replacing a motherboard which has an nVidia chipset and/or nVidia graphics for a motherboard which has an ATI  or Intel chipset, you will quickly find out that nVidia drivers are not so easy to uninstall. The normal procedure through ‘Programs and Features’ doesn’t quite cut it, and if you take a trip to Control Panel > ‘Performance and Information Tools > Advanced Tools, you will see an entry relating to nVidia divers causing wake from sleep/hibernation to be slow. There is a fix, and if you download from the link below, it is a free version, and … Continue reading nVidia drivers – removal

I upgraded my hardware..

Over the last three or four days days, I have been upgrading my production machine. The aging Biostar T6100-939, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ and 4gb RAM has been struggling to keep up with all that I am doing.. The system is still in the original case, and intact apart from a 320gb HDD. I cleared the 160gb slave, and set it up as the primary drive, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. All is well and it is an ideal system for me to keep within the network and to train my granddaughter in the use of a computer. … Continue reading I upgraded my hardware..

Maybe one or two will, … Continue reading Easy website creation..

Bing bunged..

When a Brit bungs something, he/she flings/tosses an object away or towards somebody or something. Well, this ex-pat Brit has bunged Bing towards obscurity for now. I am sick to death of the Microsoft ads appearing because Bing has nothing better to offer when I type into the search/address box. As much as I hate Google, and I do, it is back again as my default search engine. When I browse, I want search results, not ads for stuff I already have. Bing sometimes puts up one ad after another, like it is stuck in a loop. Sort it out … Continue reading Bing bunged..

In the interests of the non-technical..

.. and maybe many others.. RE. OS upgrades.. Microsoft, please stop producing ‘Upgrade only’ disks for operating systems. Far too many have problems because what they are upgrading can be so flawed. Also, the practice of allowing users to download upgrades without forcing the user to create a disk is not good ether, because when it comes to re-install time, there is no disk. Some are upgrading upgrades with no original OS disks in their possession. I understand that you can’t be blamed for the general state of computer, but you are not helping the cause. Upgrade disks already look … Continue reading In the interests of the non-technical..
