Firefox again..
Uncategorized Tagged Browsers, IE 11 July 26th, 2014Due to a Java update recently, I am unable to view ‘Live Timing’ on the Official F1 website. I tried uninstalling Java and putting it back, and it works just ONE time, then Windows 8, without any notification, inserts the last update and POOF, it stops working again.
Why is it important for me to get Live Timing? Well, I used to be a fan of Formula 1, but it is so cripplingly boring these days, I can’t sit and watch it. The Live Timing function allows me to do other things here while keeping up with what is happening on the track.
Ever since Windows 8/IE 11 got its own Java, I can’t say that I have been 100% impressed. Now, I have had to install Firefox in order to access Live Timing. There may well be other things affected too, but they haven’t shown themselves yet..
I’m not about to drop IE 11 for Firefox, but it is annoying and should be unnecessary. With less than five minutes of qualifying left, I won’t need Firefox again until the race tomorrow, and then there is a three week break before the next race.
Firefox will remain installed for moments like this. It is not a bad idea to have a backup browser anyway..
