My good friends Jonathan Medd and Alan Renouf (together with a number of co-authors) have just had their book “VMware vSphere PowerCLI Reference: Automating vSphere Administration” published. More details on the book contents and for a chance to win a copy visit

I’ll doing a full review of the book when I can get my hands on a copy

I purchased this book from Wiley and I had it refunded as I wasn’t able to even download the book. I have a project this would be great reference material for but due to a minor disclaimer stating it requires Adobe’s DRM software to open the book I wasn’t able to download this to my iPad.

DRM only hurts people who are wanting to buy the book legally. I want the eBook in ePub format and if you want to WaterMark it with my name, customer number. It’s a shame as the reviews thus far have been exceptional.

As an author I have to disagree. It costs a significant amount on money to put a book together and I think the publishers should be allowed to protect their investment.

Not having the book in a particular format is infuriating but I have to question if the iPad is the only device you could have used?

The really annoying part of e-books is the fact that their availability is managed regionally. I often have to buy through UK distributors rather than from a US source
