Why do software suppliers – Adobe with Acrobat Reader & Oracle with Java are the worst culprits – insist on trying to install their browser toolbar & change my default search engine??
What’s worse is that they make the default action to install it & I have to remember each and every time their products update – at least once a week! – to untick the box so it doesn’t install.
I really hate this behaviour – please stop.
I know you won’t but I had to ask

OMG! I SO agree with you. These days when I install a new machine I use Sumatra PDF reader in place of Adobe. I’ll also avoid installing Flash and Java for as long as possible! QuickTime is an absolute no no (which clearly precludes iTunes – no great loss!)
These software vendors do themselves no favours. I know they need to make money but I don’t subscribe to the in-your-face-ware approach.
Cheers,
Chris

Amen!
It seems like such an unnecessary thing to do. Adobe, Oracle, please listen. There is ZERO VALUE ADD in all this douchebaggery.
