Nice write-up about Alex’s trip to State in the local paper – along with pics

I’ll be posting my pics, video and story soon (today or tomorrow), but folks around here have been talking about Alex’s news in the local paper.  We were confronted with a copy of the paper today, and I just love the photo they included.  You can see Alex giving it all he’s got (looks like he’s changing into the Incredible Hulk!)…

Alex State Run 2008 026

Hmmm…maybe, we should rent Alex’s picture to the movie folks to help market the new Hulk movie coming out…hmmm…

I can’t find the article online right now — strange.  The local paper writes it in a way that even they believe the State rules may need to change.  Alex was bumped out of the finals by a couples kids that were actually slower.  Seems to me you want the fastest runners in a finals.  Also, note that in the paper article it says that Alex was the 8th fastest.  He actually had the 7th fastest qualifying time, against a horrible wind.

From the print article (Middletown Journal, Saturday, June 7, 2008, Section B – Front Page)…

Mohawk 400-meter runner Alex Trent was barely nosed out of the event finals.  Officials advanced the top four finishers from the two heats, not the top eight overall times.  Trent turned in the eight-fastest time (50.39), but finished fifth in his heat.  Adding salt to the wound a bit, Trent was nosed out by Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin’s Joe Vucic by 1/100th of a second.

Here’s some more photos they have up on the newspaper web site (you can click the photos to see a larger view)…

So, that’s what the local paper has so far.  I’ll post our photos, videos, and the complete story soon.
