Kevin Holman’s OpsMgr Blog : AD Replication monitoring – getting lots of slow replication errors?

The guide that ships with the current ADMP version 6.0.6452.0 leaves out a LOT of information on how to properly set this up…. specifically – how to make any overrides to the replication values, which is extremely common.

Even after adjusting the overrides as one would think to be correct, you may still continue to get alerts about no or slow replication.

Batch file to perform an offline defrag of the Exchange db to another drive

Just sticking this here as a placeholder for myself.  I’ve had the occasion to need to do offline defrags of the Exchange private store onto a different drive due to the drive where the private store having too little space.  Microsoft has some great documentation on using the eseutil, but their scenarios don’t include scripts for automating or scheduling after hours offline defrags.

As I have to perform additional offline defrags, I’ll post more scripts that have been tested to work so you can simply drop the script in a directory and schedule it to run with the operating system.

* Batch file for performing an offline defrag to another drive letter. The private store is installed on the D: drive and is being pushed to the Y: drive in the exchdefrag directory.

cd\
d:
cd\
cd\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin\

eseutil /d /p "d:\program files\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb" /t"Y:\exchdefrag\tempdfg.edb"

SCCM stores AD organizational unit in the DB exposing it to v_RA_System_SystemOUName view. The problem is, that for each objects you'll find direct and all parent OUs of the computer. I've created a view, that shows direct OU only. Here it is, just change SMS_ENT to your SCCM DB name.

MDT-ZTIDon’t you just wish you could set all your clients to boot from network, and let the PXE server evaluate whether or not it should load the WinPE image to redeploy the computer? Well you can with SCCM using mandatory advertisements of course… but I've written a little script that will achieve the same functionality using native MDT, without the use of the SCCM infrastructure

The Deployment Guys : Location Deployment Wizard for ConfigMgr 2007

The Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and its accompanying database offers features to tailor a workstation based on its location during a deployment. The MDT Database allows locations to be defined and a set of location specific settings can be stored against each entry. When a workstation is been deployed, an MDT database lookup determines its location and collects the relevant build settings for that location. The location is determined by carrying out a lookup of the default gateway on the target workstations assigned NIC against default gateways assigned to locations in the MDT Database.
