I downloaded the Vista RTM image from the MSDN subscription on the very same day it was published but didn’t have enough time to sit and install it. I finally did it last night and here are my observations: the overall OS installation time (fresh install, not upgrade) has drastically come down compared to pre-RTM releases; RTM took about 15-20 minutes to install. My laptop is an AMD 64-bit (HP dv8000) based one and installed th 64-bit Vista. The side-effect is that some of my devices (audio, modem and mass storage controller) don’t have 64-bit drivers bundled with Vista. No issues with enabling Aero class effect though.
I will be installing Office 2007 and Visual Studio 2005 too on this installation. I hope I don’t get into any surprises :-)
